Things To Know About
Personal Performance Coaching

"Most people prefer a problem they can't solve to a solution they don't like." -- Lee Thayer, Ph.D.

When it comes to maximizing personal performance; there are two categories of people.
  1. "THOSE WHO DO!"
  2. "THOSE WHO DON'T!"
Obvious isn’t it? But did you ever wonder why? Did you ever wonder if THOSE WHO DON’T can become THOSE WHO DO? Have you ever thought that THOSE WHO DO are special, or just lucky, in some way? That they may be more talented than THOSE WHO DON’T.

Which Category Are You In?
How Do People Become One or The Other?

Those are questions we answer for people daily in our Coaching Institute.  Through years of study and application, we know the key competencies, behaviors and tendencies that drive real change for THOSE WHO DO .vs THOSE WHO DON'T.

When taught appropriately, the Northstar Applied TA coaching methodology is not so much about changing you as it is about giving you the tools to determine why you do what you do, so you can choose to change it if you want to.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • That each of us has several parts, or facets, to our mental makeup. And that part of what makes each of us uniquely different individuals is the level of activity we each exhibit in those several parts?
  • That in each individual, these parts are blended together in a unique ratio much as one would mix paints, and
  • That, the mix we have makes each of us become a one-of-a-kind organism, unique in the world as one or more of these parts of our mental makeup become stronger and more dominant in our special mix and other parts become weaker as a result?
  • And that our unique mix shapes our values and our views, and is the basis of what and how we think, and “colors” how we see things?

ARE YOU AWARE?

  • That the several facets of your mental makeup create a constant chatter in your head, each trying to present its point of view -- a point of view that can be remarkably valuable to you?
  • That these several parts of you can form your diversified, personal “Board of Directors”; each Board Member an expert in some aspect of the way you think, react, plan, and make decisions in your day-to-day activities, as well as in the long-term objectives of your life?
  • That most systems and types of therapy, analysis and guidance that are typically employed to help us get along in this world, ask you to repress, ignore, disregard and even fight some of the voices of your own mental makeup, your Board Members?
  • That by listening to each of their voices, you can more accurately identify your wants and needs, your likes and dislikes, your fears and joys?
  • And that this knowledge can give you the insight to make clear decisions when the time comes?

DO  YOU REALIZE?

  • That this knowledge of yourself can also provide you with the insight to analyze and understand why you want to do what you feel compelled to do?
  • That, then, by sorting this out quietly, in the privacy of your own thoughts, you can decide an appropriate course of action in a given situation before you actually do something that others can see or hear?
  • That every person you come in contact with has the same Board Members in their head and experiences the same chatter?
  • That by applying Northstar TA for a New Generation you will have the tools to not only understand your own thoughts and actions, but also to determine where the wants and needs of other people are coming from?

We have the tools that can help you

Choosing a coach for either business or personal purposes is a little tricky.  Determining which particular individual and method actually suits a certain situation can sometimes be extremely puzzling in the best of circumstances with such a broad array of methods and individuals in the coaching arena. Many times a certain coach will develop a reputation for dealing successfully with this or the other situation, such as arbitration, mediation, teamwork, mid-management, or other specialty. However, if personal needs include, but also go beyond, those specialties, that specific talent may not be a good “fit” for the situation on a whole.

Typically, the president of a company successfully deals with business decisions on a daily basis. That is where he excels. That’s why he is where he is. Usually, though, what makes his job more difficult than it otherwise would be, are other aspects of his life that use much of his time and energy. His dealings with his peers, his friends, his family, his employees, his superiors, and even with those he sees off and on (repairmen, school officials, and so forth) may fill his mind and tend to prevent him from seeing and hearing clearly (with no baggage from other sources) so he can make clear, straightforward, stress-free decisions.

The coaching method that Edmundson Northstar Companies has chosen over hundreds of other possibilities goes beyond business interest or even the ability to run a business. It deals with clarifying how the person sees the business and those other aspects of his life – not so much of dollars-and-cents knowledge as of clearing the issues around business decisions, thus leaving the person the ability to make a clear decision with the knowledge they have. This more basic route to the root of a problem seems to work equally as well whether the coach has the same business or personal background interests as the client or not.

You may be interested in meeting some of our world-class performance coaches who work with CEOs, executive managers, sales managers and salespeople. These coaches use Transactional Analysis, a powerful personal growth tool to bring much more clarity into your life. They specialize in the use of this method, which has been proven to be the world’s most popular (and most effective) model of how the human mind operates with emphasis on communications and interactions. You can learn to communicate more clearly with yourself and others than ever before. Learn to assess people and situations much more accurately than ever before. Improve your relationships. Enhance the way you make personal and business decisions. This will consequently take much of the stress and emotion out of your business decisions, which will result in easier, more powerful, and more profitable transactions.

The Edmundson Northstar Companies has several personal performance coaches from which to choose. Whereas, each has their own talents and abilities and brings a special “style” to the sessions, they all deliver the same results to the client: "to show each corporation or individual their unique link between what they know and what they do – to make it possible for each client to do what they want or intend to do, rather than what they are compelled to do by other factors in their lives that interfere."

Danna Hallmark Danna Hallmark, Personal Coach/Business Consultant
Danna has used her talents to assess many situations and guide many groups and individuals in the past 25 years. One of her specialties is the “out of the box” thinking. She has worked in such arenas as developing strategies for the State of Louisiana Commissioner of Insurance in their “uninsured” program, developing strategy for a continuum for upcoming fields that had no set standards, merging colleges and schools of thought, dealing with the legislatures of several states where she wrote and co-wrote legislation, clarifying rules and regulations of government and private agencies (AMA, FDA, CLIA) for those who are newly affected by them, as well as guiding individuals to personal growth by giving them the keys to clarifying their understanding of their own actions.

You’ll find her a powerful, straight-forward, insightful performance coach whose intuitions and perceptions are keen, measured, innovative and extremely useful.
